A church family in “Almost Heaven” West Virginia
Hampton Road Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church in Fairmont, West Virginia — tucked in the hills of Marion County, about twenty minutes down the road from Morgantown. We are a Bible-believing, King James, gospel-preaching church family, and everyone is welcome.
Everything here flows from two simple commands: to love God and to love people. Our worship is traditional — we sing the great hymns of the faith, and folks tell us our congregational singing is something you have to hear for yourself. Most of all, we open the King James Bible together, because the preaching of the Word of God is the most important thing that happens in our services.
We’re a guest-friendly church, which means when you visit we won’t single you out or put you on the spot — you can simply come, sit, and worship. Sunday School and a nursery are available so every member of your family has a place to grow.

Pastor Josh & Ashley Carlisle
Bro. Josh surrendered to preach as a fourteen-year-old boy, and there has never been a passion that compares to his love for preaching. In June of 2016 he and his wife Ashley — his high-school sweetheart — moved with their four sons, Hunter, Tanner, Chandler, and Carter, from Walls, Mississippi to give themselves to the work of the ministry here at Hampton Road.
Ashley serves faithfully alongside her husband as first lady of the church, known for a sweet and humble spirit, and hosts a warm monthly ladies’ meeting. Whether you’re exploring the faith for the first time or looking for a church home, the whole Carlisle family would love to welcome you this Sunday.
Our Heart as a Church
Loving God
Everything we do begins with loving the Lord. We gather to worship Him, to sing the great hymns of the faith together, and to sit under the faithful preaching of His Word.
Loving People
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. We welcome every guest warmly — and we'll never single you out or put you on the spot.
We Preach the Word
We stand on the King James Bible as our final authority. The preaching of the Word of God is the most important thing that happens in our services.
Traditional Worship
Ours is a traditional church, not a contemporary one — and our congregational singing is something you have to hear. Sunday School and a nursery are available for your family.
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
